Your hosts are Mark and Jennifer Archer

We would like to invite you to our home and hope you will enjoy a stay with us in the beautiful Coromandel.couple2.jpg

We were formally Dairy Farmers in the Waikato until injury forced us to make a dramatic change in our lives. 'What to do' was the big question. Both of us have a passion for fishing, motor bike riding (on and off road), the Coromandel and people, so the logical thing to do was put all these things together into one package.
That's how 'Why Worry' came to be...

We are both easy going, fun loving Kiwis although Jennifer does speak Dutch.
We are both trained First Aiders, so in the event of any accident or illness we will be able to offer assistance and get any help required.
When you come and stay with us we hope you will make use of the added facilities on offer like the gardens, picnic areas and views here and in the wider Coromandel as well.

THE COROMANDEL - A Fisherman's Paradise

With around 400km of coastline and over 100 offshore islands, The Coromandel is one of New Zealand's favourite marine playgrounds.

It boasts some of the country's best quality and variety of fishing within a relatively small area. With an East and West Coast, plenty of bays and islands for protection you can be sure that on most days you will find somewhere to fish.

No matter what your interest whether it is surfcasting from the beach for Kahawai, sitting amongst mussel farms catching a feed of Snapper, live baiting for Kingfish around current swept headlands or heading further a field to chase that elusive Marlin or Tuna, The Coromandel pretty much has it all. There's also a regular calendar of fishing competitions to chance your arm against other anglers.

While The Coromandel has a great fishery, it is a relative small area and is fragile place to be respected and preserved for the future. Make sure that future generations get a chance to appreciate the great fishing that we have - only take enough for a feed and follow size and catch limits.

Why Worry Boat Sightseeing trips  $100.00/hour min 3 hours

Please bring your camera you wont be disappointed

This trip is a great start your Coromandel on the water experience. We will leave Sugar Loaf Boat ramp and cruise out the harbour with Rangipukea island on our right hand side we are heading through the inshore mussel farms on our way to deadman’s point a very good fishing area on an outgoing tide. We will now cruise south east to Kirita bay commonly known as smugglers bay back in the day smuggling activities were rumoured to have taken place here through the caves you can see on your left-hand side. We will now head nor west and head up the Coromandel Coast enjoying the magnificent view of the Coromandel Ranges with castle point on your right and a little to the right of it the land mass known as the sleeping giant and the rugged coastline that make our Peninsula postcard perfect. We will pass the Te Kouma harbour - Manaia inlet - Deadman’s Point Coromandel harbour entrances the two small islands on our left are the Cow and Calf islands.we are now going through the channel which is in between Motuapere and Wanganui island  - Be amazed as you see the   huge barges manoeuvre through the marine farms harvesting mussels for local and domestic markets.

CRUISING THE ISLANDS

We are now heading on a route that will take us to the Motukahaua islands, a lot of   Nature and a lot of relaxation all with spectacular scenery, as we travel through the still waters, enjoying the serenity as large Gannets soar above searching for food. A pod of dolphins following alongside the boat. I often stop for a moment and think how lucky we are to live in such a special place; we have an abundance of fresh seafood at our back door, no pollution and this amazing nature park as part of our daily life. Most people that live in the coromandel move here for the way of life, you are not here for the money because there is not a lot of it here but the lifestyle is and you cant really put a price on that. We have spectacular sunrises and sunsets and these two times of the day are the most special.   We pass through more of the inshore mussel farms and as you can see the barges are hard at work harvesting and so are many local and outside recreational fisherman and Fishing Charter Operators all hoping for that trophy fish for photographsand then for tea. As we head for the black rocks, elephant cove and happy jack island.  We will watch sea gulls nesting and nature at its best as gannets dive from great heights into the water to feed off the unsuspecting sea life.  Marine farms cover a large area of the sea, so sea and bird life are abundant.  A tour not to be missed.Take advantage of this tour and be sure to include it in one of the MUST DO ACTIVITIES whilst staying in Coromandel. And after your tour Why not stay at Why Worry Bed & Breakfast enjoy the upmarket rooms and spectacular views and taste some of the fine KIWI CUISINE that your host JENNIFER will cook for you.
